Emirates Leisure Retail to open Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen and Maggie Beer Kitchen, two premium venues in Adelaide Airport

Emirates Leisure Retail (ELR) is pleased to announce a partnership with South Australia’s iconic winemaker, Penfolds and Australia’s most loved cook Maggie Beer.

Located in the new retail and dining precinct within Adelaide’s domestic and international terminal, Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen will offer travellers a premium food and wine experience. The architecturally curated space will deliver a distinctive luxury aesthetic and bring a taste of Magill Estate to travellers on the go.

The menu will be carefully crafted using only the very best South Australian produce to complement Penfolds wines and ‘House Style’ – a philosophy upheld for 175 years. Travellers can also shop Penfolds extensive range of red and white wines, to take on their journey.

“We are thrilled to announce Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen at Adelaide Airport, in our heartland of South Australia. Complementing the distinctive experiences on offer at our existing cellar doors; Magill Estate and Barossa Valley, this new Wine Bar and Kitchen will allow travellers to experience exceptional food and wine, even when on the move. This is another proud Penfolds milestone and we look forward to welcoming travellers to this exciting new space in 2020,” said Angus Lilley Chief Marketing Officer, Treasury Wine Estates.

Managing Director of Emirates Leisure Retail AUS/NZ, Justin Scotti said “Australians love their wine and fresh local produce and combined with our incredible pride in home grown brands, and personalities, and you have a pretty compelling offer for the airport traveller. The Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen will be the first Penfolds in-airport concept of its kind globally. We are proud to represent Penfolds and Maggie Beer, two extraordinary brands, and to be able to continue to deliver to ELR’s unwavering commitment in bringing travellers unique, world-class food and beverage concepts.”

Maggie Beer is not only Australia’s most loved cook, she is also a food author, restauranteur, food manufacturer and a regular celebrity guest on Australia’s ‘Masterchef’ series and co-host of ‘The Great Australian Bake off’. Living in Adelaide’s Barossa Valley, Maggie continually profiles the best of cooking using what is in season on her farm, and through her Maggie Beer Farmshop, which has become one of Adelaide’s ‘must visit’ tourist destinations.

Maggie Beer Kitchen will be a premium venue featuring a large dine in or take away offer with an all-day menu all made on site using South Australia’s freshest in season produce, and proudly serving local beverages, leading local coffee, alongside Australia’s favourite Hudsons Coffee.

Maggie Beer said, “We are very excited to be partnering with Emirates Leisure Retail to announce the Maggie Beer Kitchen at Adelaide Airport. This offer will give customers from all over the world the ability to experience our beautiful products together with the food and wine experience that we offer people at our renowned Maggie Beer Farmshop in the Barossa Valley. We are very proud to be opening this dining and retail experience in our home state of South Australia, so that we can showcase to the world all the wonderful things that this state has to offer. I am really looking forward to creating the menus and overseeing the retail space, to provide travellers with food that I know they will love.”

Both venues will feature a significant retail offering of products for travellers to take home. Maggie Beer Kitchen will retail a selection of her cookbooks and a large range of products for the pantry including her extensive range of condiments.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Mark Young, said “Adelaide Airport is Australia’s fastest growing airport for international passenger numbers. The past financial year we welcomed more than 8.5 million travellers, and that number is expected to rise to almost 20 million by 2039.”

“Our retail vision is to create a best in class retail experience to surprise, delight and entertain all airport users. We are excited to attract iconic South Australian brands the calibre of Penfolds and Maggie Beer, which will have pride of place in the newly expanded terminal.”
